Biography

Maureen J Haldeman is a visual artist residing in Malibu, California, specializing in photographing the natural and urban landscape of Los Angeles and beyond. Born in The Netherlands and growing up in Montreal, Canada, she settled in Los Angeles and attended art history and fine art photography studies at UCLA under Robert Heineken. She began her photographic journey interpreting the natural landscape - primarily abstractions of the ocean - and expanded her subject matter to include abstractions inherent in architecture.

 

Maureen has taught photography and darkroom skills at the college level and done freelance work for publications including The Los Angeles Times. She has been commissioned to do photographic projects for the entertainment industry and her work is often used for film and television set design.  Her images have been featured in publications including Black and White Magazine, Silvershots, L’Oeil de la Photographie, Artillery Magazine, Photographize Magazine, Lenscratch and on YourDailyPhotograph.com

 

Her photographs are part of many private and public collections in the US and abroad, where she has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Paris, Milan and Rome, Tokyo, Athens, Barcelona, Budapest and most recently London, England.

 

Maureen was appointed to serve as a member of the Malibu Arts Task Force, the first committee formed by the City of Malibu to identify public art opportunities and implement a public arts policy for the City.
